A single car accident in La Plata, Mo. early Saturday morning left one dead, and sent five others to the hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened just after midnight at the intersection of Iris and Hilton five miles southwest of La Plata.


A 2000 cavalier driven by 17 year old Jackie Patterson of Kirksville failed to turn at the intersection, traveled off the road, became airborne, and struck an embankment before coming to rest on its wheels. Patterson is listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Columbia.

17 year old Cody Thackrey of La Plata was pronounced dead at the scene, 18 year old Adrianna Kronic was life flighted to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia she is now listed in good condition, also taken to Columbia was 21 year old Colt Lewis of Kirksville he is now listed in critical condition.


Eden Meade, 18 of La Plata is now in fair condition. The driver, Jackie Patterson, is listed in critical condition.


There was also a 5th passenger 17 year old Cameron East of La Plata he was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville where he is listed in good condition..
