Devin Christopher Berkes, 24, son of Kenneth and Kim Boleyn Berkes, was born Dec. 26, 1985, at Oelwein. His death occurred Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from respiratory failure. Devin and his special friend, Savannah were anxiously awaiting the birth of his first child. She survives along with his mother and stepfather, his father, grandparents, great-grandmother, half brother and many extended relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, with interment at Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner where there will be a 7 p.m. scripture service. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
