A visitation is scheduled Thursday afternoon for Matthew Thomas Roglyn, a 19-year-old Cooper City resident killed in a single-car accident this week.
His visitation, open to the public, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, at 1600 N. University Drive in Pembroke Pines, according to Boyd-Panciera staff. A celebration-of-life service will be at 6 p.m. the same day at the same location.
On Wednesday, a memorial with balloons, flowers and other tributes remained at Roglyn's crash site, near Embassy Creek Elementary School at 10905 SE Lake Blvd., in Cooper City. The site is about two blocks from Roglyn's home.
Roglyn died early Monday when he lost control of the 2007 Honda Civic he was driving, and struck a tree, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The accident occurred about 4 a.m. along a winding stretch of Southeast Lake Boulevard, east
of North Hiatus Road, which requires eastbound drivers to cope with a sweeping curve to the left, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Civic was eastbound above the posted 30 mph limit, and its right-side tires went from the road onto a grass swale, the Sheriff's Office said. Roglyn swerved left, but overcorrected, causing the car to rotate counterclockwise, officials said.
The car went over a concrete median, and the passenger-side door struck a tree. Roglyn, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, died from his injuries, officials said.
Roglyn's family could not be reached for comment late Wednesday afternoon, despite a phone message left at a listed number.
According to an obituary published on Tributes.com, Roglyn is survived by his parents, Timothy and Karen Ro
