Police say a man who was found shot multiple times behind Building 41 in the Orr-Weathers public housing complex died after he was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville.
The man was identified as Darrell Wilbourn, 20, of East St. Louis, according to Capt. Bobby Cole, of the East St. Louis police.

Cole said police received a call at 9:23 p.m. Saturday about shots fired. Officers found the victim in a field by the basketball court.

"It appears he was shot in one location and ran to the area where he was found," Cole said.
Police have not made an arrest or recovered a weapon, but are pursuing leads.

Illinois State Police officers are assisting East St. Louis officers.
