Quinnipiac University officials say a woman killed in a snowmobile crash in Vermont was a freshman at the Connecticut school.

Vermont state police say 18-year-old Jessica Bolognani fell off the back of a snowmobile on Saturday evening and was hit by another snowmobile in the town of Readsboro. Authorities say alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Police say Bolognani, of Readsboro, was wearing a helmet, but she suffered serious head injuries.

Quinnipiac spokesman John Morgan says Bolognani was enrolled in the School of Health Sciences at the Hamden school and made the dean's list for the fall semester.

Morgan says members of the Quinnipiac community are offering their prayers and condolences to Bolognani's family and friends.
