An arrest has been made in the death of a missing Spokane resident after the Spokane County Sheriff's Office Dive Team recovered a body from the Spokane River in Riverfront Park during an investigation into both an assault that happened at the park over the weekend as well as the search for 21-year-old Romero Vivit.

Initially the two cases were being treated as separate investigations that were geographically in the same vicinity, but late Tuesday afternoon the Spokane Police Department announced via Twitter that 21-year-old Yukio Rideb had been booked for 2nd Degree Murder for Vivit's death.

According to police, park security officers found bloody clothing near the Looff Carousel at Riverfront Park and blood on the ground on Saturday.

"An article of bloody clothing down near the carousel, and upon further investigation detectives determined that was the scene of a significant, serious assault," Spokane Police spokesperson Officer Jennifer DeRuwe said.

Early Tuesday morning Major Crimes detectives taped off the carousel and collected evidence. Spokane Police, the dive team and the sheriff's office helicopter Air One were involved in the investigation, which culminated in the discovery of a body in the water after two divers had been in the water for about an hour.
Spokane Police say its most likely Romero Vivit but positive identification will come after an autopsy to be performed by the medical examiner's office.

"Divers were searching the water this afternoon trying to eliminate the possibility that there could be someone in the river. We are investigating a missing 21-year-old man, and they have located a male body inside the river and it appears this description matches the missing person," DeRuwe said.

Police had been searching for Vivit, who was last seen at 2 a.m. Saturday at the Revolver Bar. He left the bar with some friends but hadn't been seen or heard from since.
