DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a teenager - fatally stabbed after gatecrashers smashed their way into a party - have released a 000 call in a bid to identify a distressed female who claimed to have been threatened by a man minutes before the homicide.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Bradshaw released the recording, saying police wanted to locate the young woman amid concerns for her welfare.

But he stressed that police did not yet know if the call and the claimed attack was linked to Michael's murder.

The 000 call was logged at 12.14am on January 16 - just 16 minutes before the homicide.

Police have traced it to a public phonebox on Mildenhall St, about 200m from the crime scene.

During the 20-second call, the panic-stricken woman says: ''Police, police, police, Stevenage Street, Huntingdale. Stevenage, Stevenage, Stevenage, Stevenage Street, Huntingdale.''
