For the first time, we're hearing from those who knew the woman who died in Thursday's Megabus crash.

The 25-year-old grad student was attending the University of Missouri, described by colleagues and classmates as a "stellar student" with a bright future.

Aditi Avhad studied dentistry in her native Mumbai, India, and came to the United States in fall 2011 enrolled in the University of Missouri's health administration graduate program. She was awarded a scholarship and was supposed to complete her master's degree this spring.

University authorities said Avhad maintained a 4.0 GPA. She had been training over the summer with the Center for Health Care Quality at the university. Her friends said she was always smiling and was very popular with international and American students. Avhad was traveling with her parents on the Megabus back to the University of Missouri when the crash happened.

The Montgomery County Coroner said Avhad's parents, who were traveling with their daughter, remain in separate St. Louis area hospitals. Avhad's mother is in worse condition than her father, but the extent of their injuries are unknown.

A memorial service took place Friday night on campus at Memorial Union. Grief counselors were on hand.
