Veronica Strenk Murray, 58, of Hyde Park, passed away at home peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 16th, 2012. She was born Nov. 2, 1953, in Poughkeepsie; the daughter of Joseph and Joan Strenk. She attended Rhinebeck Central schools and married Joseph Murray, in Rhinebeck, on July 1, 1993. Veronica had a varied career where she mixed her creative side with her technological skills. She started at Blue River doing screen printing, then on to James Burn, where she did production style screen printing and met her husband. Eventually she moved onto Einhorn, Yaffee, Prescott to do computer aided design and development. She finished her career with Hewlett-Packard. Ronnie's passion in life was for her family. She loved traveling with the kids, deep sea fishing, whale watching, and camping. She and her husband took a beautiful cruise to Nova Scotia last fall, and enjoyed many motorcycling trips, where Ronnie was either a passenger or riding her own bike. She entertained her sisters and brothers by playing the guitar and singing when she was a teenager, and loved spending time in Fla. with her siblings and father. She especially enjoyed skyping with her brother in Pa. Veronica also had a creative website where she sold many of her handcrafted items such as dried flower wreaths, tea cup night lights, and brooches made from antique postcards. Her latest passion was wood turning and she made beautiful pens, crochet hooks, honey dippers and the like. She sold her crafts on both Etsy and her personal site, Riverside Artistry. She had a blast going to auctions to get old stuff to work into her crafts. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Murray, of Hyde Park; son, Charles Chlanda of Millbrook, stepdaughter, Meghann Murray of Rhinebeck; father, Joseph Strenk of Delray Beach, Fla.; and brothers and sisters: Frank (Pat) Strenk of Telford, Pa., Patricia (Robert) Barricelli of Delray Beach, Fla., Lynda Salvetti of Delray Beach, Fla., Mary (Don) Elgin of Delray Beach, Fla., and Larry Strenk of Delray Beach, Fla.; nieces and nephews: Jennifer Asbury, Robert Strenk, Megan (Salvetti) Beery, and Daniel Salvetti. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Strenk. The family will be having a celebration of Veronica's life at a later date. Watch for postings on her Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Dutchess/Ulster County Hospice, Inc., will be greatly appreciated. Hospice was a great source of comfort to Veronica's family.
