Shreveport Police crash investigators released the identity of a man who was hit by a vehicle and killed near downtown Shreveport.

The deceased man has been identified as Joshua Bruce, 23, of Shreveport. Bruce was struck early Sunday morning by a vehicle driven by Gwendolyn Brown, 50, also of Shreveport.

The accident happened in the 1800 block of Spring St. just before 3 a.m. Investigators determined that Brown was driving in the inside lane on Spring St. and did not see Bruce who was reportedly walking in the road, until a street light illuminated him.

Brown did undergo mandatory testing for drugs and alcohol. Police say both tests came back negative.

No charges were filed against Brown.
