John F. Putnam Jr., 20, of Route 203, Valatie, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at his home.

Born in Lowmoor, VA, Aug. 20, 1990, he was the son of John F. and Kathleen (Allen) Putnam Sr. of Valatie. John attended Ichabod Crane High School and was presently employed by Birch Hill in Schodack. He enjoyed sports, especially football and basketball, and was an avid fisherman. He was a former junior member of the Tri-Village Rod and Gun Club.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a son, Kaiden Hunter of Fort Edward; a sister, Rebecca Putnam of Valatie; his maternal grandparents, Mary Ann and Elmer Allen of Valatie; and many aunts and uncles.

He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Mary Katherine and William Putnam.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert DeLeon.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home Inc., Route 9, Valatie.
