John Wayne "Rod" Allen, Jr., 23, of Guyton, Ga., formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Rod was born Sept. 8, 1983, to John Wayne and Rhonda (Tooley) Allen Sr. in Marion.

Rod was a graduate of Marion High School. He moved six years ago to the Savannah area, where he was an officer with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors include his daughter, Makayla Nicole Allen; his fiancée, Nicole Hoomer of Bloomingdale, Ga.; parents, John and Rhonda Allen of Guyton, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Wayne Allen of De Soto, Jody Dwayne Allen of Guyton, Ga., and Jesse Daniel Allen of Guyton, Ga.; two sisters, Dayna Marie Allen of St. Charles, Mo., and Sondra K. Allen of Guyton, Ga.; grandparents, Dan and Patsy Tooley of Marion and Mildred Allen of Makanda; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Rowan Cemetery in Makanda. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
