Andrew Paul Schmidt, age 18 of rural Big Stone City passed away October 8th at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, as a result of a vehicular accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 12th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Daniel Wolfgram will officiate and burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in Big Stone City.

Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Monday, beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a scripture and rosary service at 7 p.m.

Honorary bearers will be: Nicole Schweer, Andrew's cousins, and all his many friends. Casket bearers will be: Cory Schmieg, Brandon Schmidt, Michael Schneck, Stuart Tillma, Jason Mielitz, Derrick Willis, Tyler Willis, and Tanner Tharp.

Andrew Paul Schmidt was born March 13, 1992, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Ralph Paul and Nancy (Schmidt) Schmidt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic School in Milbank and was a graduate of Milbank High School in May, 2010. He was currently pursuing an education in welding at Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown, SD.

Andrew had an incredible work ethic, and enjoyed working everyday. He was currently working for Schneck Farms and loved farm work. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and riding his 4-wheeler. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed hanging out with friends.

Andrew Paul's family finds comfort in knowing that through his gift of life as a organ donor, many people will benefit and have a better life.

Andrew Paul's memory will be cherished by his parents: Ralph Paul and Nancy Schmidt of rural Big Stone City, SD; one sister: Amanda and husband Cory Schmieg of rural Corona; one niece: Brynlee Schmieg of rural Corona; one brother: Brandon Schmidt and Brittany Morgan of rural Milbank, SD; maternal grandparents: Delmar and Louise Schmidt of Milbank, SD; paternal grandmother: Marjorie Schmidt of Big Stone City, SD; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Ralph J. Schmidt, Jr., great grandparents, and two aunts.
