A 33-year-old man and 34-year-old woman died early Saturday after a shooting at the Scottish Inn motel in Henderson, police said.

Officers responding to the hotel, at 1759 N. Garnett St., found the Jerome Kearney and Kenya Odessa Hodges, both of Henderson, dead about 3:15 a.m. Police said the victims knew each other and the case is not a murder-suicide.

Witnesses reported waking up to the sound of gunshots.

"There was like four or five of them, then a few minutes later there was like three or four more," said Chassity Eaton, who was staying at the motel.

Another woman also heard the shots and huddled in the bathroom out of fear.

"I was scared," said the woman, who did not want to be identified. "I was terrified. I just grabbed my kids and took them to the bathroom."
