Police say a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Cypress Monday night.

According to the Cypress Police Department, 45-year-old Steven Hinkel was attempting to cross the roadway near the intersection of Valley View Street and Lakeshore Drive around 10:45 p.m. when he was struck by a minivan driven by an unidentified male motorist.

Mr. Hinkel died at the scene from his injuries. The motorist was not hurt.

It is unknown if he will be charged in this case.

Officers are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
