The Montana Highway Patrol reports a woman from Nampa, Idaho, died in a one-vehicle accident about a mile west of Sidney Wednesday night.

The 44-year-old woman identified as April Smith was heading east in a Ford Taurus on Highway 200 when the vehicle drifted across the center line and into a ditch on the north side of the highway. The accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m.

When the woman overcorrected, the vehicle hit a driveway and rolled. She was partially ejected and died at the scene.

Smith had been living and working in Sidney. The Montana Highway Patrol said Thursday Smith's death was a direct result of alcohol use and driving without a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation.
