Cpl. Anthony R. "Tony" Peterson, 28, of Oglesby died at 9:10 p.m. Jan. 10, 2013, in his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ptak Funeral Home, Peru. Abbot Philip Davey, OSB, will officiate. Burial will be at St Vincent Cemetery. La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial group will conduct full military honors. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1985, in Peru to Stanley and Marcella (Dutch) Matson Peterson.

Anthony was an army veteran serving two tours of duty in the Iraq War. Serving honorably, Anthony received numerous medals for his service, among them Army Commendation Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Champaign star. He achieved the rank Corporal.

Anthony currently was enrolled at Illinois Valley Community College in Automotive Technology, where he also worked as a lab aid.

Survivors include his mother, Marcella Matson of Colona, Ill.; his maternal grandmother, Diane Dutch of Peru; one sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Cruise of Shabbona, Ill.; two brothers, Joseph Peterson of La Salle and Stanley A. (Susan) Peterson Jr. of Fishers, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Peterson in 2009; and brother, Christopher Peterson in 2007 [memorial # 58509358].
