A young Manchester mother of two, whose family will benefit from thousands raised at a benefit dinner earlier this month, died Thursday.

Amanda Beauchamp, 25, had been battling neuroendocrine cancer.

"It's a double-edged sword," said her aunt Brenda Garcia, a lifelong Manchester resident. "We are so sad to lose Amanda, but are happy that she isn't suffering anymore. She was a tough fighter. It's hard to see her go."

Beauchamp — niece of city school board member Roger Beauchamp — had begun a very aggressive form of chemotherapy, in the hopes of shrinking her tumor. "It took a lot out of her," said Garcia.

Garcia said Beauchamp, mother of son Devine, 2, and daughter Imani, was very focused on a June 5 spaghetti dinner that raised just over $17,000 to help with medical costs and her children.

"She just wanted to be at that dinner," said Garcia. "It was almost like she knew she didn't have much time left."

The Growing Years Early Childhood Center, which both of Amanda's children attend, is accepting donations on behalf of the family. Make checks payable to The Ross Children's Fund, c/o The Growing Years at 130 Harvell St., Manchester, NH 03102. Donations can also be dropped off at any St. Mary's Bank location in the city.
