A 26-year-old Birmingham woman was killed and another woman was injured Thursday night in a wreck on U.S. 280, about five miles east of Inverness, state troopers announced early Friday morning.

Sarah Helen Stanfield was killed in the two-vehicle wreck. The crash happened in Shelby County about 7:12 p.m.

Stanfield was driving one of the two vehicles. The driver of the other vehicle, Pamela McGuire Carlisle, 56, of Sterrett, was injured and taken to UAB Hospital.
