A motorcyclist was killed on State Road 436 in Orange County on Wednesday night, after colliding with a curb, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said, a 27-year-old male motorcyclist, of Gainesville, was heading northbound on SR 436 in the right through lane around 11:00 pm, when he collided with an outside curb near Raiders Run.

The motorcyclist drove up on the curb for approximately 30 feet before losing control.

Troopers said, the motorcycle then crossed over the grass path then onto the sidewalk. The motorcycle then collided with a concrete wall that runs parallel with the sidewalk, before striking a wooden utility pole.

The driver of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the Winter Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers have not released the name of the motorcyclist, pending notification of next of kin.
