The man accused of causing a deadly wrong-way crash on State Route 520 in April pleaded guilty in court Friday.
Michael Anthony Robertson was in a wheelchair as he entered his guilty plea for vehicular homicide. In addition to the April crash, Robertson also pled guilty to a DUI he committed in Tacoma in December 2012.
The judge read a statement that Robertson wrote admitting his guilt.
"He was under a court order not to consume alcohol and he still consumed alcohol," prosecutor Amy Freedheim said. "But he's taking responsibility for it and that's clearly a positive thing."
Robertson had been charged with driving the wrong way on eastbound SR 520 under the influence of alcohol April 4. His car collided with one driven by 58-year-old Morgan Williams, who was killed.
William's family attended the hearing and said they were glad he's finally taking responsibility.
If convicted, Robertson faces up to 10 1/2 years in prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 26 at 1 p.m.
In May, Robertson pled not guilty to the crash that killed 58 year old Morgan Williams.
Last year, the state legislature approved a bill that doubled the standard range for vehicular homicide DUI, making it equal to first degree manslaughter.
