Ruth Alice Brockmann, age 58, died on July 9, 2013 at home in Vancouver, WA. Ruth was born January 21, 1955, in Vancouver, WA, one of five children of George and Lillian Brockmann.
Ruth graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver. She was a pioneer in rediscovering the ancient art of kiln-fused glass. Her pieces were displayed and sold in galleries and museums around the country. She was also commissioned to do several larger installations around the Pacific Northwest, many in collaboration with Hal Bond, her partner of 25 years.
Ruth is survived by three siblings, Kathie Brockmann of Vancouver, Bob Brockmann (wife Bunny) of Tumwater, and John Brockmann (wife Cathy) of Olympia. Her older brother Bruce Brockmann of Olympia passed away twelve hours after her.
Ruth will always be remembered for her love of family, her joyful spirit and her life-long passion for art and nature. She will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA, on August 3, 2013 at 3 pm.
