Scot Morency was born June 21, 1969 in Lawrence, Mass. to Steve and Holly (Gleason) Morency. He attended Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, Calif. and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif. He was an incredible athlete, playing football and running track as a state finalist in high school. He was a talented musician and played in many bands. He also loved surfing and skateboarding. On Aug. 6, 2004, Scot married his wife, Kelly in Portland. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, making music and attending Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Portland where he was a member. Scot is survived by his wife, Kelly Morency; son, Andrew Morency; father, Steve Morency; mother, Holly Gleason; sister, Ami Morency; and nephew, Jesse Morency. A service will be held for Scot on Saturday, July 13, 11 a.m., at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 11560 SE Market St, Portland, OR 97216. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Scot's name to the athletics department of Centennial High School at 18135 SE Brooklyn, Portland, OR 97236.
