James Walter Garrison, 27, a former resident of Abilene, passed away in New Orleans Friday, September 6, 2013, from injuries in a pedestrian-car accident. He was born March 28th, 1986 in Corpus Christi, Texas and lived there and McAllen before moving to Abilene in 1995. He graduated from Abilene High School in 2004 where he was active in debate, Model UN and other academic groups. He attended ACU before joining the Air Force in 2008 as a loadmaster for C-17 aircraft. After the military he continued college, but had just changed his major to Radiologic Technology at the time of death. James loved fishing, history, crossword puzzles, cooking, gardening, eating new foods, and arguing about current events. Most of all he loved his friends and family. James is survived by parents Kirk and Jenny Garrison, and brother Joshua Garrison of New Orleans; his aunt Kim (Bill) Bohls, Austin; his uncle William (Krystal) Hoel, Rockwall, TX; and eleven cousins and step-cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Carrollton Avenue Church of Christ, 4540 S Carrollton, New Orleans, LA 70119, Saturday September 14th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Celebrate Recovery: New Orleans, in care of Carrollton Avenue Church. -
