Tyler M. Hicks, 16, of Meadville, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1995, in Corry, a son of Frank Johnson and Stephanie A. Hicks.

Tyler would have been in the 10th grade at Meadville Area Senior High School, and played last year on the junior varsity football team.

He was well liked, especially for his humor. Tyler spoke often about entering the military; and was especially interested in welding.

He loved to hunt and fish, and will be remembered as a kindhearted and lovable fellow.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Stephanie Drusko of Meadville; maternal grandmother, Mary L. Hicks of Centerville; paternal grandfather and grandmother, Joe and Vickie Drusko of Kennerdell; two aunts, Sgt. and Mrs. Eric (Jennifer) Erickson, with the U.S. Army in Fort Bragg, N.C., and Lisa and Doug Schell of Hydetown; two uncles, Michael Hicks Jr. of Centerville and Ben Drusko of Chapmanville; many, many cousins; several great-aunts and uncles; four sisters, Carmen Drusko and Abby Drusko, both of Meadville, and Elizabeth Drusko and Alyssa Drusko, both of Titusville; and a brother, Jesse Drusko of Meadville.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Michael Hicks Sr.; great-grandfather, Raymond C. Hicks; aunt, Judith Messina; and stepgrandmother, Cathy Drusko.

Calling Hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.

Additional calling hour will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rometown Community Church, 44364 Harrison Road, Spartansburg. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Tim Harger and Pastor Shawn Jacobson officiating

Interment will be in Red Oaks Cemetery.

Memorial donations would be appreciated to the family in care of the funeral home.
