A 19-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near 144th Avenue Sunday morning.

At 5:13 a.m., a 2001 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on I-25, between E-470 and Highway 7, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and collided twice with a concrete barrier. The Jeep then rolled onto its left side and slid into the center lane, where it came to rest, the Colorado State Patrol said.

Prior to the Jeep overturning, a backseat passenger, 19-year-old Marysol Tarango of Thornton, was ejected through a rear window, which had broken during the collision with the concrete barrier, according to a CSP report. Tarango, who was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, landed in the center lane of the roadway, where she was struck by a 2005 Toyota Tacoma and a 2008 Toyota Sienna.

Tarango sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CSP said.
