Mandan police say a 28-year-old man found dead in mobile home Monday night died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Mandan Deputy Police Chief Paul Leingang said Thursday there were no suspects, but he said more than 20 people have been interviewed during the investigation.

Alex Lansdon was found dead shortly before 10 p.m. Monday at the mobile home he rented at 904 Poplar St. in the Wildwood Trailer Park in southeast Mandan.

Police are looking for at least three of the victim's guns that were taken from the crime scene, one of which likely was used in the shooting, Leingang said.

"The crime scene was an obvious case of homicide as Mr. Lansdon had injuries consistent with multiple gunshots," Leingang said in a statement. An autopsy was done Wednesday.

Lansdon, originally from California, had been living in the Mandan area for about two years and worked as a carpenter, although he was not employed at the time of his death, Leingang said.

Lansdon rented the mobile home last May and had at least one known roommate, Leingang said, although it's possible as many as four people may have been living there.

One roommate called authorities after returning home and finding the body, Leingang said. The roommate was not identified by police.

Leingang said at least three guns, both long guns and hand guns, and clothing belonging to the victim are missing. Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for them and for clothing taken from the crime scene and possibly disposed of elsewhere.

"We would like to point out these items may have been discarded outside the immediate area of the homicide," Leingang said in a statement.

The items of clothing may include boots, coats, shirts and other things and may have been thrown away separately or in a trash bag or other container.

Leingang said police are still canvassing the neighborhood, talking to residents who may have seen or heard something.

Lansdon was last seen alive at 11 p.m. Sunday with his roommate at a local bar, Leingang said.

The motive for the killing may have been robbery, or it may have been drug-related or personal, Leingang said.

"All three are in play," he said.

Evidence collected from the crime scene is being analyzed by the North Dakota State Crime Lab. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Metro Area Narcotics Task Force are assisting with the investigation, Leingang said.
