A 17-year-old Salina boy, John D. Robb, was dead at the site of a rollover crash on Holmes Road early Monday morning, said Glen Kochanowski, Saline County sheriff.
A passenger, Mallory D. Brown, 17, of 638 Scott, was taken to Salina Regional Health Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, the sheriff said.
Brown was admitted to the hospital and listed in fair condition Monday morning, spokesman John Berggren said.
Brown walked away from the crash and began knocking on doors in the area, Kochanowski said. The sheriff's office was notified about 3:15 a.m.
Alcohol use might have contributed to the crash, Kochanowski said.
Robb was driving south on Holmes Road, south of Magnolia, when the car entered the west ditch. Robb overcorrected and the car rolled at least once. He was thrown from the car, but Brown was able to exit on her own, Kochanowski said. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Kochanowski guessed the crash occurred at 3 a.m.
