A girl died Tuesday after she was involved in a crash at the intersection of Smith Farm and Holly Grove roads, 5 miles east of Lexington, authorities said today.

Lindsey Taylor Hipp, 12, of 616 Liberty Drive in Thomasville died of her injuries at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol. Her sister, Elizabeth Nicole Hipp, 16, was treated for her injuries at the hospital.

Elizabeth Hipp was driving her car west on Holly Grove Road when she turned left on Smith Farm Road and into the path of a pickup driven by David Rose, 36, of Lexington. The crash occurred shortly before 7:20 a.m. Lindsey was a passenger in the car.

David Rose was treated for his injuries at a local hospital, FOX8/WGHP reported on its website.

Alcohol was not a factor in the wreck, the highway patrol said. All three people were wearing their seatbelts.

Lindsay was a student at Central Davidson Middle School, Elizabeth is a student at Central Davidson High School, the television station reported.
