An Ashland teenager died after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63 in Boone County during the morning commute Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Briana L. Forrest, 19, died from injuries suffered in a crash on Highway 63 at Peterson Lane when her 2014 Dodge Avenger crossed the highway and failed to yield to 2009 Ford Expedition driven by Trudy C. Lakes, 34, of Columbia. The Expedition hit Forrest's car on the passenger side. Emergency responders received the call at 7:11 a.m.

Forrest was pronounced dead at 8:08 a.m. at University Hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Lakes was taken by helicopter to University Hospital then to Women's and Children's Hospital, where she was treated and released.
