Hundreds gathered in a sea of colours to remember Elisha Neave, who died after a very public and inspirational battle with hereditary cancer.

The service was a vibrant celebration of Elisha Neave's life, with those assembled honouring her last wish to 'not wear daggy or sombre clothes'.

Instead, they came dressed in an abundance of bright colours; pinks, yellows, greens, blues, reds.
They packed Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Ashmore to pay their respects and remember the inspirational 36-year-old.

There was also an outpouring of love and support for her son, Jack.

The gathering was asked to write letters to Jack, about how his mum had touched their lives.

Elisha's partner Brendan Hopp read a letter he wrote in his eulogy.

"Jack, your mum left this world incredibly proud of you," he said.

"She was proud of the man that you are becoming and she's proud of the person that you already are.

"I can promise you this because she told me every single day."

Jack's father, Joseph Georgiadis, recalled some lighter moments, of a bright life tragically cut short.

He said she loved a joke and she would have wanted her service to be as light-hearted as possible.

"Now all we need is a name for Elisha's biography and I'm going to go with Do These Wings Make Me Look Cute?" Joseph said.
Speaking out about cancer

Elisha Neave helped draw public attention to her disease by speaking out about her decision to delay preventative surgery.

She and her two older sisters tested positive to the so-called cancer egen BRCA in 2007.

The gene increases the likelihood of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

The family asked for no flowers for the memorial, but for donations to be instead directed to a fund for Jack.
