Mary M. Schewe, age 48, of Rice Lake, WI died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN from a bleeding stroke.
She was born on September 4, 1965 in Kansas City, KS to Frank and Arlene (Leffler) Munden. Mary graduated from Cal Lutheran High School in San Diego, CA in 1983 and Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in music. She was married to Mark Schewe on May 27, 1989 in Kansas City. They moved to Rice Lake in 1994 where she worked at Rice Lake Weighing Systems from 1998 - 2013 as a software engineer. Mary also received her airplane pilot's license in 2002. She was a talented actress and singer performing with the Barron Spotlighters and Northern Star Theatre. She also worked films with Doug Phillips. Mary was a member of First Lutheran Church and also attended Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rice Lake.
Mary Schewe is survived by her husband, Mark Schewe; a daughter, Rachel Schewe of Rice Lake, WI; 2 sons, Tim (Kayla) Schewe of Kingsland, GA and John Schewe of Rice Lake, WI; her mother, Arlene Munden of Overland Park, KS; a sister, Cynthia Carter of McKinney, TX; 2 brothers, Michael Munden of Olathe, KS and George Munden of Taylorsville, NC; 3 nephews, Samson and Jonah Carter and Michael Munden; and her in-laws, Bill and Evonne Schewe of Wheaton, IL.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Jerry Bernecker officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 PM Sunday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals and for one hour prior to the service at the Church.
