A motorist and her passenger were killed Wednesday in a head-on collision in Parker County, authorities said Thursday.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the victims as Fe Santistevan, 68, and Kimberly Witt, 53, both of Weatherford.
Santistevan was pronounced dead at the scene, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said. Witt died at 10:40 p.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
A 7-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. Her condition was not available Thursday.
The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday on Farm Road 51 in Parker County.
A Ford F-350 pickup was southbound on Farm Road 51 just south of Texas 171 when the driver told troopers that the front end of the truck began shaking, DPS Sgt. Lonny Haschel said Thursday.
A tire blew out, causing the pickup to veer into the northbound lanes and collide head-on with a Toyota Camry, Haschel said.
Santistevan was a passenger in the Camry, and Witt was driving, authorities said.
The pickup driver was not injured, but the 7-year-old — a passenger in the truck — was injured.
