Biloxi Police Sgt. Jackie Rhodes have arrested 45-year-old Rodise Jenkins and charged him with murder in connection with a shooting on Dorries Street on Saturday afternoon.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the victim as 26-year-old Anthony Wheaton of Biloxi.

According to Sgt. Rhodes, Wheaton was shot around 2:15 p.m. Hargrove said Wheaton was taken to Biloxi Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:58 p.m.

Biloxi Police say a person of interest was taken into custody shortly after the shooting during felony traffic stop on Bayview Avenue. At this time, it's unclear if that person of interest was Jenkins or another person.

Rodise Jenkins is awaiting an initial appearance at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
