found last week in a wooded area near Bastrop is missing 25-year-old Smithville woman Christine Mohler, her family believes it is and is ready for closure.

Bastrop County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Donna Van Gilder said last week that evidence found during a search of the area near BJ Mayes Road and Texas 95 "led her to believe" the deceased person found last week was Mohler, who was officially listed as missing Aug. 7, but no official autopsy reports have been released.

Rosanky resident Doyle Sullivent said Mohler's family was awaiting results of a DNA test that would officially provide the deceased person's identity.

Sullivent said Wednesday that he found a shoe belonging to his cousin Friday during a law enforcement-supervised search of the area near where the body was found. Her cell phone was also found in the area, Sullivent said.

"In my heart, I feel 100 percent that it is her," said Sullivent, who has been leading a grassroots search effort to find his cousin. "This waiting to know for sure is the worst part. We're just waiting to hear.

What day will it be? What hour? Will it be in the next 30 minutes? The family needs to get closure."

Officials have not commented publicly on whether they believe foul play was involved.

Sullivent says the family is getting ready for what he says is the next step: funeral preparations, in the event that officials tell him the unidentified body is indeed his missing cousin.

He said his cousin did not have life insurance, and, if she's dead, her parents will be left with the bill for her final arrangements. Sullivent said he has set up an account at the First National Bank of Bastrop's Smithville branch.
