The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified a 24-year-old man who died after police found him with a gunshot wound in a car in North Charleston Monday night.

The coroner's office says Donald Brown of North Charleston died from a gunshot wound.

According to NCPD officials, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Nesbit Avenue and Lester Street for a report of a shooting.

As police were on their way to the scene they received reports that the person shot was in a vehicle.

A responding officer reported that he spotted the victim's vehicle which appeared to have been driven into a fence.

The officer looked in the vehicle and saw a male victim with a gunshot wound to the left chest area, and also observed a hole in the driver side window.

A police report states the victim's vehicle was very close to a power pole, and when the fire department arrived they reported that the victim had no pulse but had some electrical reading.

Emergency crews pulled the victim from the car and attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Authorities say there is no suspect information presently.
