An Elk Plain woman who investigators believe fatally shot her ex-boyfriend before killing herself outside a church Tuesday has been identified as Stephanie Rawls.

Pierce County sheriff's detectives believe Rawls, 38, shot Julian Fejerang, 32, in their home near 52nd Avenue East and 239th Street East in retaliation for breaking up with her.

It's unclear when the shooting took place.

Fejerang's mother, who also lives in the house, noticed about 10 a.m. that her son's bedroom door was locked. When he didn't respond to her by 3 p.m., she kicked in the door and found his body in bed.

Rawls' body was discovered about 8 p.m. in the backseat of a truck parked outside a Tacoma church near East Portland Avenue and East 68th Street. She's believed to have shot herself with the same shotgun used to kill Fejerang.

Family members said Rawls had been acting strangely lately and had been giving away money. The couple, who each had a child of their own, had recently broken up but were still living in the same house.
