Mr. Charles Rodricuz Brown, 36, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, was called home on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, N.C.


Charles Brown was born on January 2, 1978 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Charles Davis Brown and Minnie Mae Batts.

Rodricuz graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School class of 1996. He attended A&T University and received a degree from ECPI but he bled Carolina Blue. "Go Tarheels"!

He was a member of the Greater Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he received Christ at a very young age.

Before his health began to fail, he was employed at Fountain Correctional Center for Women.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Davis Brown; his mother, Minnie M. Batts Brown; his sister, Eunice Batts Alston; grandmother, Annie Mae Paige; two uncles, Edward Lee Batts and Lorenzo Pittman; two aunts, Starline Batts and Alberta Perry; three special cousins, Lamont Warren, Deanna Perry and Carline Batts.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Keisha (Hardy) Brown and their children, Shon, KeAuna, Kenneth, Kendale, Ervin, Chemeika, Jada, and a daughter he raised as his own, Jada Mae; grandchildren, Leah, Carter, Javad Jr., Jairez, and Caela; sisters, Angeline Gorham (Jimmy), April Hardy Higginbotham (Julian), Tawanda Robinson, Atlantis Smith and Stephanie Robinson; brothers, David Cornell Pitts, Reginald Hardy, Stewart Hardy (Dorothy), Travis Hardy, Gregory Hardy, Leon Smith and Andre Robinson (Sabrina); father-in-law, Reginald Hardy (Christine); mother-in-law, Emma Hardy; aunts, Shirley Taylor (Ernest), Odessa, Linda, Betty Jean, Jarnette (Bert); uncles, Frank (Mildred), James (Wynette) Phillip, Cordes (Diane) James; great aunts, Wilhemenia Batts, Keeler and Ida Ruth Wiggins (Willie); great uncles, Paul Batts (Beulah) and Samuel "Jim" Lancaster; special nephew, Marquis Batts; special niece, Jamie Jones; best friend since kids, Derrick and a host of nieces and nephews.


A Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Greater Mount Hermon in Rocky Mount, N.C.
