Authorities have released new details in a fatal March 7th accident that claimed the lives of two young men in Edinburg.
Both driver Eric Davila and Joshua De Zenea died following an accident off South Sugar Road and Freddy Gonzalez Drive.
Investigators suspected alcohol and drugs played a factor based on evidence seized at the scene.
A toxicology report released on Wednesday morning revealed Davila consumed Xanax and had a blood alcohol level of 0.22, which is almost three times the legal limit.
Edinburg police report that the both Davila and De Zenea were both 20-years-old, which is under the legal drinking age for alcohol in Texas.
Investigators learned that both men had been at the Thirsty Bronc bar off West University Drive hours before the accident.
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) officials confirmed their investigators reviewed surveillance cameras at the bar.
Both Davila and De Zenea were seen in the bar for about 28 minutes where the two men both got a drink but it's not clear if it contained alcohol or not.
TABC officials said Davila and De Zenea left the bar and later showed up to a party where they walked in with their own beer.
It's still not clear where the two 20-year-old men got the beer but under Texas state law, it's illegal to provide alcohol to minors.
