After the devastating loss of 14-year-old Lincoln Park resident Blake Bowman, a freshman at Allen Park High School who battled cystic fibrosis his whole life, members of the Downriver community came together at a candlelight vigil Jan. 23, 2015, to show support for his family.

The Bowman family is embedded in the community, said Ken Stephens, assistant principal at Allen Park High School. "His brother, Brett, his parents, Kim and Brian, they're involved in so many different things whether it be through church or athletics. They're just a wonderful family."

Hundreds of friends of Allen Park High School student Blake Bowman attended the candlelight vigil in his honor, some holding signs with messages such as "Fly High Blake."

A GoFundMe campaign, launched by co-workers of Blake's father, already has raised more than $20,000 for the family to help pay for funeral costs and medical bills.
