A third young man died when the car he was driving crashed into an embankment and flipped onto its roof in Drumore Township, police said. Jeffrey Michael Roth, 20, of Peach Bottom, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Silver Spring Road on Sunday morning, according to state police.

Two passengers in Roth's car, Raymond Ashton Brackin, 21, of Quarryville, and Daniel Lynn Sherman Jr., 19, of New Providence, were injured, police said.

Brackin and Sherman were taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said they were listed in fair condition Sunday night.

State police said the accident happened shortly before 3 a.m. in the 1000 block of Silver Spring Road, which is south of the Buck and west of Route 272 and the Tanglewood area.

Roth was driving a Cadillac CTS eastbound, police said, when he crossed both lanes of travel and struck several wooden fenceposts and an embankment containing a drainage pipe and a metal gate.

The car became airborne, police said, and rotated several times before landing on its roof against a tree in a grass field.

Roth, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle when it crashed, police said.
Both passengers were wearing seat belts, police said. One of the two had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.

Brackin was flown by helicopter and Sherman was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Volunteers from Rawlinsville and Quarryville fire companies assisted police at the scene, police said, as did ambulance crews from Wakefield and Susquehanna Valley emergency medical services.
