Rosemary Vianney Owens, 59, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Swedish Medical Center after a brave battle with cancer. A Celebration of Rosemary's Life will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Hilton Anchorage, 500 W 3rd Ave. in Anchorage, Alaska. Burial will be at a later date at the Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Fla. Rosemary was born on Aug. 9, 1955, to Leslie and Mary (Gobin) Carter in Trinidad, Tobago. Her stepfather came into her life later and he adopted Rosemary and her two brothers. Rosemary could only speak highly of her adopted father, may he rest in peace. Her time here in Alaska was well spent making a difference in Anchorage working for STAR, where she made friends that turned into family. She loved all those in her life unconditionally. She dreamed of returning to the beach to listen to music and leave footprints in the sand. "Rosemary, my wife of 41 years was as beautiful inside as she was outside. It is hard to imagine life without her. She was dedicated to the work she did and I know her coworkers will miss her as much as I will. Rosemary loved to crochet and she would spend hours crocheting a blanket for someone's upcoming baby. Rosemary went into surgery hoping to prolong her life so she could have some more time with her granddaughter. I will miss her dearly. You just can't forget all the years we have spent together. She will forever be in my thoughts until the day when we are together again," quoted her husband. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Harold S. Owens of Anchorage; sons, Steven E. Owens and Jeremy L. Owens, both of Anchorage; brothers, Richard P. Martin of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Gregory A. Martin of Merritt Island, Fla.; sister, Laura L. Milham of Orlando, Fla.; half-brothers, Peter Carter, Ramon Carter and James Carter; and granddaughter, Kaia J. Owens of Atlanta, Ga.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
