An Alma College student found dead in a field in January died from hypothermia while exposed to cold temperatures, reveals an autopsy released by the Gratiot County Medical Examiner.
The autopsy report, including toxicology results on 18-year-old Alma College freshman Sean Murawske, was released March 20, 2014, the Alma Police Department reported.
Murawske was reported missing Jan. 12, and his body was located about 12:25 p.m. Jan. 14 in a field off Charles Avenue in Alma during a communitywide search.
The autopsy was conducted Jan. 17 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
The autopsy report lists the cause of death as hypothermia due to environmental cold exposure and the manner of death as accidental, the Alma Police Department said.
The toxicology report lists Murawske's blood alcohol content to be 0.115 when he died.
Murawske was born Nov. 2, 1995, in Bad Axe, to Richard and Lori (Will) Murawske, according to his obituary. He attended Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated with honors from Harbor Beach High School in 2013, where he played basketball for three years and baseball for four years.
Murawske was considering a career in education or law enforcement. He had worked at the Harbor Beach Resort.
