University lecturers have led tributes to a student who was found dead in a hotel room.

Carly Potts, who studied at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), was found in a hotel on Albert Road in Blackpool earlier this month.

UCLan bosses have today paid tribute to the 26-year-old, described as "friendly" with a "warm personality".

Alice O'Sullivan, a senior lecturer from the school of social work, said: "Staff and students at UCLan were deeply shocked to hear of the death of Carly Potts.

"Carly was a friendly member of the community and social care course and her warm personality had a positive impact on the group as a whole.

"She was well liked by her lecturers and her peers and had many good friends on the course.

"She will be missed by peers and staff, and our regret is that her potential will now remain unrealised.

"The whole school would like to send their most sincere condolences to her friends and family."
