Austin was currently employed with Tally's Restaurant and Bar in Des Moines. As a gifted musician, his music shined when Austin played his trumpet and guitar. He loved working on cars with his dad; and spending time with his family, especially all his nieces and nephews. Austin will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his father, Westly (Stephanie) Thompson of Des Moines; mother, Shawn Kramer of Des Moines; paternal grandmother, Mary Thompson of Des Moines; nine siblings, Heather Thompson, Michele (Mike) Mohler, Tommy (Sara) Thompson, Harry (Megan) Kramer, Tanner Kramer, Cassandra Kramer and Collin Kramer all of Des Moines, Brendan Kooyman of Oneida, NY and Michael Towers also of Des Moines; and a host of many loving nieces, nephews, stepsisters and stepbrothers. Austin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Toby Thompson; and both maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and a portion will be designated to go to: National Awareness on Mental Illness (NAMI.org); and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP.org) in Austin's name.
