A memorial Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church for Darren Larry Blackwood 46, of Bakersfield who passed away suddenly on January 20. The Reverend Tim Vivian will officiate and inurnment will be at St. Paul's.

Darren was born October 4, 1968 in Lamont to Larry and Linda Blackwood and was raised and attended local schools nearby. He attended college in St. Louis Missouri and lived in various places before returning to Bakersfield to be near his family. He worked for a time with the Kern County Probation Department as a substance abuse counselor and he enjoyed helping people. He was confirmed and baptized at St. Paul's and was very involved in the food pantry and helping the homeless and needy.

Darren is survived by his parents Larry and Linda Blackwood of Bakersfield; his brother Steven Blackwood of Bakersfield; his nephews and niece Chance, Mylissa and Logan Blackwood as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

No visitation is planned, Webb Sanders Funeral Home Lindsay is in charge of all arrangements.
