Kip Dee Goin, 57, of Hot Springs, SD, lost his battle with cancer and won his place in heaven on July 13, 2015, at home, with his partner and son by his side. He was born in Lebanon, OR on July 8, 1958 but was raised and attended schools in Vancouver, WA.
After high school, Kip held a variety of jobs: Portco dock work, monitored St. Helen's volcanic activity, house framer, manager and owner of a Minit Mart store. Later in life, he moved to Arizona and bought a sports bar and ran it for several years. His last years were spent in Hot Springs where he was a butcher in a grocery store and later managed the ProSource lumber yard.
Kip made friends easily wherever he went with his easy nature, fun-loving spirit, good humor, and willingness to help others. He was always busy with projects indoors and out, always using his creativeness and problem-solving skills. He enjoyed landscaping projects, working on his rock-crawling jeep, camping, waterskiing, boating, snowmobiling, quad racing, and riding his Harley.
After he left Vancouver, Kip always made it a priority to call his parents every week and continued to call his mother weekly once his father had passed. Even after his cancer diagnosis, he never missed a week of calling. It is easy to see that he had a love of life and all it had to offer.
Kip leaves behind his much loved companion, Laurie O'Bryan of Hot Springs, SD; his son and best friend, Travis Goin of Peoria, AZ; his daughter, Rachel Watt (Devon) and granddaughter, Audra of Goodyear, AZ; his mother, Frances Goin of Vancouver, WA; his sisters, Carrie Rider (Scott) of Spokane Valley, WA and Joni George (Dan) of Battle Ground, WA; his twin brother, Kim Goin of Vancouver, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arden "Dart" Goin (2009).
A celebration of Kip's life will be held on Sat., Aug. 8th, at 4 p.m. at The Quarry Senior Living, 415 S.E. 177th Ave. in Vancouver. All are welcome to attend. -
