Kathy Peterson died July 16, 2015 at age 46 after an extended battle with depression.

Kathy was a vivacious, beautiful and confident woman living in acceptance. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, friend and leader. She always gave freely and without expectations, even donating ovum for a lifetime family friend. People were drawn to her outgoing personality, intelligence, and unbounded generosity.

She had many good friends simply because she was a good and true friend, helping so many through challenges. She was thoughtful, well respected, honored, precious and fun. She enjoyed dancing, skating, nature, and cheering on her sons in their sporting pursuits. She loved her annual cabin girl outings with friends in the great outdoors, and traveling on spa trips with her mom. The Kathy we all knew and loved for so many years shared a genuine zest for life.

Kathy was a graduate of JDHS class of 1987 and graduated from UAF in 1992 with a BA in Broadcast Journalism. Most recently she was employed with the State of Alaska in Human Resources, and previously by USKH Engineering and the Juneau Empire.
She was a member of the 1987 JDHS Drill Team, and later a coach for the team. She competed in bodybuilding at the Alaska State Championships and was a member of the Juneau Roller Girls. During summer breaks at college, she drove for Princess Tours, helped her mother with her B&B business and soaked up the warm sun every chance she could. After college, she married Drake Peterson, also of Juneau and JDHS Class of 1987. After college, they enjoyed Maui for a year before settling back down in Juneau to begin a family. Kathy planned everything with a purpose.

She is survived by her husband Drake of 23 years, and two boys, Lars age 15 and Miles age 11. Her Father Ron Holley, with brothers Jared and Jacob Holley. Her Mother Diane Mayer Pearson and Father Steve Pearson with brother Darien Pearson. Her in-laws Steve and Mary Lou Peterson, Jeremiah and Alaina Clinton and their two sons Malachi and Asher.

A Memorial Service, followed by a Pot Luck celebration in Kathy's honor, will start at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at Auke Rec. Bring chairs if desired. Be prepared for rain and pray for sun.

Drake, Lars and Miles greatly appreciate the outpouring of thoughts, prayers, love and support.
