Prosecutors on Thursday charged a Festus man with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of a man in De Soto.

Thomas Harris, 30, is accused of killing Dion Robinson about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in a driveway in the 800 block of Blow Street.

Robinson went to his girlfriend's house that evening, but she wanted him to leave, said Det. Rick Draper. When Robinson refused, she called Harris to come help her.

Court documents say that Robinson grabbed a cellphone from the woman before Harris shot him.

Robinson was 26 and lived in De Soto.

Harris, who lives in the 600 block of Sunnyside Avenue in Festus, was in custody Thursday and a cash-only bond of $50,000 was set.

He was one of two people taken into custody at a St. Louis County hotel and questioned by police Wednesday.

A woman who police also questioned has been released while charges against her are considered.
