Oconee County authorities are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead at an Upstate home on New Year's Day.

Early Friday, the Oconee County coroner said a 54-year-old woman died from a gunshot wound at a home on Qualls Hill Drive in Westminster.

Coroner Karl Addis identified the woman as Kathy Elaine Owens, who lived on Sunshine Circle in Westminster.

Addis said an autopsy will be performed on Sunday as part of the death investigation.

The manner of death is pending investigation.

Officials did say there is no public safety concern in connection with this shooting.
